Once a dingy and dangerous seaside saloon, Gerry “Geddy” Mitchell bought the rundown bar in 1974. He built the place into a world-famous destination with entertainers, including Bonnie Raitt, Wynton Marsalis, Taj Mahal, Pure Prairie League, Arlo Guthrie, Livingston Taylor, and Los Lobos.

In 1987, Arthur and Heather purchased Geddy’s, transforming the bar into one of the best restaurants in Bar Harbor. No trip to Bar Harbor is complete without a stop at this iconic spot for lobster and lobster rolls!

Geddy’s offers a fun and relaxed atmosphere overlooking the harbor. The family-friendly restaurant has a local vibe with historical photographs and memorabilia of old Bar Harbor lining the walls. The iconic circular bar is conducive to friendly conversations and to watching sports game. Once the seediest part of the saloon, the basement is now the bright and cheery “Geddy’s Down-Under,” selling Geddy’s gear, unique local gifts & cool stuff. Right next door is “Geddy’s By The Sea,” an upscale women’s boutique featuring clothing, jewelry, and those special gifts for everyone.

The menu celebrates the bounty of Maine with fresh lobster and seafood caught in the waters directly in front of the restaurant. The lobster is always always fresh, never frozen, and sourced directly from local fishermen. The lobster rolls are prepared with daily fresh-picked lobster meat – the best lobster roll in Bar Harbor! Or, pick your own lobster straight from the live tank and learn about Maine’s famous crustacean.
