Spring is one of the best times to visit Bar Harbor, a charming New England town. Known for its rugged coastline, tranquil lakes, and thriving wildlife, Bar Harbor is home to popular Acadia National Park.

For those looking to unplug from life’s hectic pace, the season offers a quieter time to enjoy Bar Harbor’s spectacular scenery and vivid bursting colors. It presents a unique opportunity to feel like a local.

  • The Inn on Mount Desert – Located in the heart of downtown Bar Harbor’s Historic Corridor. The inn offers convenience and relaxation. Rooms decorated in coastal cottage motif. Continental breakfast and wine/cheese served. Open now.

  • Atlantic Oceanside – A hotel and event center, offering quality accommodations at affordable rates, with ocean views, modern amenities, and indoor/outdoor pools. Open now.

  • The Bar Harbor Inn and Spa – Overlooking Frenchman Bay, this beautiful historic Hotel, Inn and Spa is a Bar Harbor institution, offering superior service and timeless charm. Open March 29th.

  • The Bayview– A spectacular summer “cottage,” once owned by the Vanderbilt family. Winston Churchill was among its prominent guests. Located on Frenchman Bay with a private pier for yachts. Available for rent on a weekly basis, beginning in May.

  • The Bayview Hotel – A boutique hotel located on the ocean. All rooms with waterfront views and private balconies. Reopening in May.

  • Balance Rock Inn – A grand summer oceanfront estate in a romantic setting. Pamper yourself with luxurious amenities and first rate services. Opening in May.

  • West Street Hotel – A luxury boutique hotel, featuring a rooftop infinity pool and two restaurants. Opening in mid-April.

  • The Central House – A charming New England Inn, located in the heart of Bar Harbor. Explore its fascinating history and intriguing connection to the Hope Diamond. Offering reasonably-priced accommodations. Opening in May.

RESTAURANTS TO EAT AT WHEN IN BAR HARBOR

Indulge in delicious Maine lobster. Enjoy steamers, New England clam chowder, fresh corn on the cob, and famous wild Maine blueberry pie.

  • Geddy’s – Enjoy the colorful and lively history of this favorite Bar Harbor tradition. Located on Main Street, overlooking Frenchman Bay, the town pier and Agamont Park. Offering a fun, casual and friendly atmosphere. Serving-up Maine lobster, lobster rolls, other seafood, burgers, pizza, and more. Open now.

  • Side Street Cafe – Providing a warm and welcoming ambiance, this local eatery and bar offers burgers and other bar fare, as well as a variety of lobster dishes. Open now.

  • Jordan’s Restaurant – A popular spot for breakfast. Known for its freshly-made muffins and wild blueberry pancakes. Start your day off right at this home-style eatery. Opening for the season on April 5th.

  • Galyn’s – A cozy restaurant in a Victorian-era house in the heart of town. Serving fresh seafood and hand-cut steaks. Re-opening on April 12th.

  • Havana – An American fine dining establishment featuring a contemporary blend of Latin & American food. Opening in April.

  • Café This Way – A quirky popular restaurant in a cottage setting, tucked away on a side street. Serving breakfast and dinner. Reopening in May.

  • Jordon Pond House – Located in Acadia National Park, an historic stop for tea, popovers & jam. Offers views of the pond & mountains. Opening in May.

BAR HARBOR MAIN ATTRACTIONS TO VISIT

Discover the beauty of picturesque Bar Harbor, without the crowds. Experience Downeast hospitality and the local culture of one of New England’s most enchanting towns.

  • Acadia National Park – Acadia National Park is open year-round. Enjoy the many hiking trails, bike paths, horseback riding trails, spectacular lakes, and the rugged coastline. Watch wildlife in their natural habitat with spring sightings of the occasional Moose. Please note that park hours vary by season.

  • Bar Harbor Bicycle Shop – Peddle your way down Main Street. Serving the community since 1978. Open now.

  • Oli’s Trolley – Sit back and enjoy narrated tours of Bar Harbor and Acadia National Park. Returning in April.

  • Downeast Windjammer Cruise Lines – Set sail on beautiful Frenchman Bay aboard one of the historic schooners. Operating from late May to mid-October.

  • Dive-In Theater with Diver Ed – Drop anchor with Diver Ed for an interactive underwater family adventure. Cradle amazing sea creatures like starfish, sea cucumbers, crabs, and scallops. Returning for the season in May.  

  • Lulu Lobster Boat – Take a ride on an authentic New England Lobster boat for lobster fishing and seal watching tours. Opening May 7th, for the Season.

  • Bar Harbor Whale Watch Co. – Travel aboard for whale watching and puffin sighting excursions on the Gulf of Maine. Opening in mid-May.

  • Coastal Kayaking Tours – Paddle-up for a sea kayaking adventure. Explore Frenchman Bay up close and personal. Opening for the season in mid-May.
